Your soldering isn't failing randomly. You're just not seeing what's actually happening.
I teach home-based jewellery makers with handheld torches how to read the heat (not follow the checklist).

Stop Guessing. Start Diagnosing.
Know the soldering checklist off by heart. Still can't get your solder to flow?
Download your free Diagnostic Guide and discover the real reason your solder keeps failing — hint: it's not your technique, your tools, or your setup.
Flux behaviour — what each stage means
Solder behaviour — what it's telling you
Three questions to ask before you touch the torch
Heat reading — what to look for

THE REAL PROBLEM
Every tutorial says the same thing. And it's all correct. But it can't show you what you're actually missing.
What looks like clean metal has fingerprints from where you touched it applying the flux. What looks like a flush join has a gap you'd only see if you took a photo and zoomed in. The flux is communicating in real time — and nobody told you how to read it
That's the skill the advice leaves out. Not because it's wrong but because it's the one thing that's almost impossible to teach through a checklist. You have to learn to see it.
"These signals are happening at your bench every time you solder. Once you know how to read them, everything changes."
THE DIAGNOSTIC APPROACH
Read. Identify. Fix. Own.
Four steps that replace guessing with a repeatable system. The same process I use in every coaching session and what the framework course teaches you to do yourself.
01
Read the signals
Flux behaviour, solder movement, metal colour. They're telling you exactly what's happening in real time. Most makers never learn to see them.
02
Identify the cause
Prep, materials, heat — one of these three is failing. The framework eliminates each variable systematically until you know exactly what went wrong.
03
Apply the fix
A targeted correction for your specific problem. Not generic advice. Not guesswork. The right fix for the right cause, at your bench.
04
Own the skill
Next time, you diagnose it yourself. No tutorials. No forums. No months of trial and error. You become the person who answers the question.
THE SHIFT THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
It's not your technique. It's the diagnosis.
You're not bad at soldering
You've never been taught to read what you're looking at. That's a completely different problem — and a completely solvable one. The frustration isn't a reflection of your ability.
Tutorials teach steps
They can't teach you to read your specific heat, your specific torch, your specific bench. What works in a studio with a fixed torch is different at your kitchen table with a handheld butane.
Diagnosis is a skill
Once you have it, you never need to guess again. Every problem becomes solvable — including ones you haven't hit yet. Every failed join becomes diagnostic information, not evidence of failure.

Hi, I'm Linda
I spent years going in circles. Then I figured out what I was actually missing.
I know exactly what it feels like to follow every instruction correctly and still my solder won't flow. To go back to the tutorials and find the same advice. To try the forums and get the same answers.
What nobody told me, and what I eventually figured out, was that the thing making it work wasn't in the instructions at all. It was the ability to read what was happening in real time. Once I learned that, everything changed.
That's what I teach. Not a longer checklist. The diagnostic skill that makes soldering consistent — at your bench, with your tools, in your conditions.
